1.
There's a cold wind and a cold rain, no golden sun today. There's a fruit tree up behind me one we can't see from here but we can hear that you're underneath it. Coyote, why are you leaving? Coyote, you only just got here. Coyote, you're making a fool out of both of us.
2.
So... sun chaser... Up in the blue, we know you, we know you. Soar like you do, we know you, we know you. Oh, so you soar.. Up in the blue, we know you, we know you. Soar like you do, we know you, we know you. You stretch out and wait. Up in the blue...up in the blue... We know you, we know you. We wait for a wind to take you... We know you, we know you! We know you, we know you! We know you, we know you! Up in the blue... Up in the blue... Soar like you do...

I'm going away, I will see the world in my day. Spread my wings, they will be what I say. And in my youth I will be carefree. Beyond the hill what is there? I will see. This wanderlust is my inborn right. I will have the time to rest when my head turns white.
4.
You wanna fly, you wanna fly, you wanna fly... If I wanna fly, I wanna fly I need a kite... You're good up high, you're good up high, you're good up high... I heard that he was afraid of heights.
5.
Woodchuck Charlie... I think back fondly to the days when you were just a crazy baby -lazily munching on our grass and weeds. I thought we had an understanding where we would live peacefully -you would eat my weeds I'd let you live comfortably, but you up and undermined my trust and my thoughts about you. You got yourself a lady and too many babies. Last year you almost died! Do you realize that I tried to hit you over the head with a shovel from my shed, to hit you over the head with a shovel from my shed. Sir Charles I'm having some second thoughts about you. Chuck! Charlie, Woodchuck Charlie I think back fondly to the days when you were a crazy baby lazily grazing. I thought we had an understanding where we would live peacefully, you would eat my weeds I would let you live comfortably, but you up and undermined me, had too many babies, you had too many babies! Too many babies! This is a fight....to the death, it's a fight to the death over food and a shelter! Woodchuck Charlie! Charlie... Oh Charlie...
6.
We walk the creek in summer we see crawfish and frogs. Careful where you're walking -crawfish and frogs. The frogs are rocks that jump out from underneath you. We never will go hungry, we have crawfish and frogs. Crawfish and frogs!
7.
Today I put on my best shirt for you! Today I sing my best song for you! And I will fight off the others to have you! I sing from the tallest treetops: "hello hello hello hello hello hello hello!" I believe you are coming! I'm exploding inside! As I wait...in the apples... And if you don't come home with me I'm gonna cry myself to sleep!
8.
Were you murdered by friends? Were you murdered by foes? We saw you being eaten by a murder of crows... We collected your feathers. We collected your feathers. We have a jar of your feathers. We collected your feathers. WE COLLECTED YOUR FEATHERS! Were you murdered by friends? Were you murdered by foes? We saw you being eaten by a murder of crows...

You crept out from the tall grass before I got to you. You are not a creature who I'd want to run into. You slide along on your belly. I have to apologize for plugging up your hole. You scared me when I found you curled inside the fold of the log, you were long and scaly and you're green. And I would like to watch you dine but I've never had the chance. I would like to watch you rise and do a little dance. Maybe if I play this song to you. I'd like to watch you dine! But I've never had the chance! And I'd like to watch you rise! And do a little dance! Oh little snake... Come out little snake... Oh little snake... snake! snake!

Nocturnal Animals (free) 03:01
After the sun goes down we come out of hiding! I know a place we can go to get started... The paths that we know have seen heavy traffic, but it's the only way we know to go. Yeah, its the only way we know to go... In the moonlight, we are only seeking. In the moonlight, but we are always finding. In the moonlight, we have nocturnal designs. In the moonlight... The candles in your eyes they glow in the moonlight. It's the only way for me to find you. Or I can get away from you if I want to. And in the moonlight, I will do what I please. Under the cover of night away from prying eyes, we can let our guards down...nocturnal designs, in the moonlight. After the sun goes down we come out of hiding. The candles in your eyes glow in the moonlight. Nocturnal Animals...

I saw you comin' what a wonderful friend the way that you flutter and dive on your way to arrive on the tree above me as I sit on my seat these white wicker chairs I'm here to inspect and you're here for insects and you land on the trunk you're the color of a skunk you make your way up you're after your ants you can fly and I can't. You can fly and I can't. You can fly and I can't.
14.
I don't wanna grow up, I wanna stay here. I don't wanna plan for next year. I don't wanna build a nest, I don't wanna collect, I don't wanna have to do anything! Don't feel like burying! I don't wanna have to think about the frozen ground! I just wanna run around... I just wanna run around... I just wanna run around... I just wanna run around... Chase my brother up and down...
15.
A line of you across the field, laying down or up on your heels. The headlights of our car confuse, We wonder where you are as we watch you.

about

All of these songs were written by Jen & Eric. Most of which were recorded in the Parlor & Young Kirk's Room February 12-March 2009, thus completing a We are Jeneric trifecta of RPM Challenges. When the Challenge quit we kept going, and so the rest of these songs were written & recorded in the Parlor after that but most likely sometime before you acquired this album. (The trumpets on track 13 were recorded in the Kitchen of 663 Myrtle).

We would like to thank the B3nson Family for all of their love and support and encouragement and endurance and wit and charm and fashion sense.

These songs are dedicated to our friends the animals who we are so happy live in our backyard. We missed you and we thank you for returning to us (which was part of the reason we had so much trouble finishing this album). You (the animals) were being like children, each of you needing your own song. And we, like spoiling parents, obliged. (Except for Mr. Fox because we like you too much to even know how to write (another) song about you).

Some animals may have been hurt in the process of recording this album (but only just their feelings).

about

We are Jeneric Altamont, New York

Now known as The Parlor, formerly known as We are Jeneric. Many moons ago Eric met Jen in the elevator of a college dormitory. Now, more than a decade later their music is inspired by the old haunted farmhouse in which they live and the ghosts who occasionally serenade them to sleep. ... more
